DESCRIPTION:When Martin Luther nailed those 95 Theses up on that door at Wittenberg\, he nailed the Issue of the Day: Indulgences\, namely the charging for the remission of sins. \nHis emphasis on grace radically changed not just people’s perception of their relationship to God\, but history itself. \nJustification as Gospel Truth has consoled people\, reconciled people\, and freed people. \nBut it has also narrowed the understanding of the Gospel to that of the personal forgiveness of sins. \nMissed over the centuries\, and to dire and tragic consequences\, is the relationship of justification to justice. \nNow\, in this new age far removed from Luther’s\, a new Reformation moment is upon us\, an occasion to reevaluate the nature and call and consequence of the Gospel which leads us away from individualism and toward community and the nurturing of it. \nUsing Anna’s new book\, these few days will spend time discussing systemic and social sin\, and the Christian gospel-grounded vocation of involving oneself and one’s church in advocacy and social justice. \n
