Spring has Sprung!
Green pokes from white and brown, purple and red and yellow burst from green, ice-blue melts to lake-blue.
Earth is alive!
But for those with eyes to see, ears to hear, and thermometers to gauge, creation is groaning.
God has called us to be tend-ers and nurturers of the earth, but that vocation is all the more crucial as the effects of global warming grips the planet and all that lives upon it.
Christians have had an ambiguous relationship with creation. While the Old Testament has a rich tradition of the care and love for the Land, some speculate that the lack of the same in the New Testament is due to the expectation that Jesus would come at any moment.
In these days, we will dive into the Judeo-Christian heritage of the Care of Creation; consider the complex economic dynamics between fossil fuel jobs, modern day living, and environmental concerns; review some of the impact of changing climate on the Least of These; and find ways that we can live out our faith in ways that help protect and heal the earth.
